Definition
Sissotrin, also known as biochanin a 7-O-beta-D-glucoside or astroside, is a member of the class of compounds known as isoflavonoid o-glycosides. Isoflavonoid o-glycosides are o-glycosylated derivatives of isoflavonoids, which are natural products derived from 3-phenylchromen-4-one. Sissotrin is practically insoluble (in water) and a very weakly acidic compound (based on its pKa). Sissotrin can be found in chickpea, which makes sissotrin a potential biomarker for the consumption of this food product.
Belongs to the class of organic compounds known as isoflavonoid o-glycosides. These are o-glycosylated derivatives of isoflavonoids, which are natural products derived from 3-phenylchromen-4-one.
