Dihydroneopterin triphosphate, also known as dihydroneopterin triphosphate, (s-(r*,s*))-isomer, belongs to biopterins and derivatives class of compounds. Those are coenzymes containing a 2-amino-pteridine-4-one derivative. They are mainly synthesized in several parts of the body, including the pineal gland. Dihydroneopterin triphosphate is slightly soluble (in water) and an extremely strong acidic compound (based on its pKa). Dihydroneopterin triphosphate can be found in a number of food items such as breadnut tree seed, strawberry, abiyuch, and gooseberry, which makes dihydroneopterin triphosphate a potential biomarker for the consumption of these food products. Dihydroneopterin triphosphate exists in all living species, ranging from bacteria to humans. In humans, dihydroneopterin triphosphate is involved in the pterine biosynthesis.
