Definition
Pantetheine 4'-phosphate, also known as phosphopantetheine or psh-4'-P, belongs to beta amino acids and derivatives class of compounds. Those are amino acids having a (-NH2) group attached to the beta carbon atom. Pantetheine 4'-phosphate is practically insoluble (in water) and a moderately acidic compound (based on its pKa). Pantetheine 4'-phosphate can be found in a number of food items such as bilberry, rowanberry, pepper (c. baccatum), and brazil nut, which makes pantetheine 4'-phosphate a potential biomarker for the consumption of these food products. Pantetheine 4'-phosphate may be a unique E.coli metabolite.
Belongs to the class of organic compounds known as beta amino acids and derivatives. These are amino acids having a (-NH2) group attached to the beta carbon atom.
