Pterocarpans are benzo-pyrano-furano-benzene compounds, containing the 6H-[1]benzofuro[3,2-c]chromene skeleton. They are derivatives of isoflavonoids. 4-(gamma,gamma-dimethylallyl)-phaseollidin is practically insoluble (in water) and a very weakly acidic compound (based on its pKa). 4-(gamma,gamma-dimethylallyl)-phaseollidin can be found in lima bean, which makes 4-(gamma,gamma-dimethylallyl)-phaseollidin a potential biomarker for the consumption of this food product.
